Consonants, Blends and Clusters Series Guide

Download this Guide

This series begins with books 1 to 4 covering the consonant digraphs 'th, sh, ch, ng'. The consonant digraphs 'th' and 'sh' are used at the beginning and end of words. The consonant digraph 'ch' is used only at the beginning of words. The consonant digraph 'ng' is used only at the end of words.
Books 5 to 8 use initial consonant blends in words with the endings 'ck, ll, ss, ff. These particular word endings are now part of Phonic Phase 2, but when combined with adjacent consonants at the start of the word they come into Phonic Phase 4.
Books 9 and 10 cover the 'ch' digraph at the end of words in the forms 'tch' and 'nch'.
Books 11 - 14 use the word endings 'ed' and 'ing'. This work is now classed as being part of Phonic Phase 6.
Consequently, books 1-10 can be purchased on their own. Books 11 - 14 are available separately.
