B Series, B Series Extra Guide
The original B Series was written in 1999/2000 to ensure that children learnt how to blend the sounds (phonemes) of the letters of the alphabet together in CVC words, whilst not being able to guess each word from a picture. The first seven books in this series provide excellent reading practice for pupils working at Phonic Phase 2 level of Letters and Sounds. The books 8, 9 and 10 introduce the letters 'j, q, v, w, x, y, z,' and the letter combinations 'qu' and 'ck' which are all part of Phonic Phase 3.
The B Series Extra was added in 2007 to provide easy reading material for CVC words at the Phonic Phases 2 and 3 level.
The new print run of July 2009 has seen 2 books revised. The word 'can' has been removed from book 1B and the word 'very' removed from book 10B.
