5/5 Does this fall at the feet of Chomsky 'identifying universal phonemes', or has he simply invented a theory difficult to refute.

4/5 but speech is not made up of separate sounds blended together. It is a continuously changing stream as seen in spectrographs.
3/5 if speech was made up of single sounds blended together, this may appear to be a logical way of teaching reading and writing.
